National ID Card in the Land of the Free?
Ok, the question remains--what is the national ID or is it just a driver's license?

Link Update to John Piper sermons
Desiring God Website - Sermons
...currently I am working my way through John's series on the book of Hebrews.
I HIGHLY recommend his teaching from the book of Romans as well. Listen and be incredibly blessed.
Great stuff. Great God. Amazing love!
The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. Psalm 19:8

HJSplit for Windows...I prefer Java
I downloaded and installed the 32bit version for Windows XP. I do not recommend that version as it only allows you to enter split file sizes in KB. The Java version allows KB and MB.
Checksums and installs
Success! I highly recommend HJSplit to anyone who needs to split large files. Not only does it do a great job in splitting and rejoining but it also allows you to verify your rejoined file by comparing and checksum. Now here is a good question. If the checksum is identical on both files, is it really necessary to run a file comparison? Or if the file comparison is 100%, do we need to run checksum? That I will have to Google!
Oh, yes! The program installed perfectly from the rejoined files.
Check out HJSplit here: http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/
It's freeware, multiplatform, and it works very well.

HJSplit Update
Using the "Compare" function in HJSplit, the original file was compared to the new file made from the 4 rejoined parts and they showed a 100% match. Now I am running Checksum to see what the values are of the same 2 files.
{tick, tick, tick...}
Checksum is taking quite a long time so I will attempt to open and install the new _______.dmg file while I wait.
{tick, tick, tick...}
Because this file is over 6GB my Powerbook is taking a while to open and verify it. Of course, running checksum and opening this large file concurrently can't be speeding anything up.
I'm going to bed!

How I Split Files on My Mac
I had a large file that was too large to fit on a regular DVD (about 6 GB.) After a short search on Google I found a freeware app. called, Machacha. The directions on the website were somewhat vague but after a few trials I figured out how to use it. Basically you just drag n' drop the file you want to split onto the Machacha icon and then choose what format and what size files you want to end up with. After a long wait without any idea of progress I was left with the original file and 4 new files ending with the extension .0, .1, .2 and .3. So far so good. Unfortunately when I tried to rejoin the files it did not work. Maybe I am using it incorrectly. Maybe.
Back to Google!
Well, I found another app. called HJSplit, also freeware. It uses buttons instead of drag 'n drop. This worked better, I think. I split the files and enjoyed the process. Two progress bars show you things are happening as desired and it gives you a final readout of the time taken to split or rejoin the file. I wasn't paying attention the time it took to split the 6GB file, but to rejoin the 4 files it took 535.89 seconds. I believe it was quite a bit faster when splitting.
Two other nice related features of this freeware app. is the ability to compare your 2 files with each other or use checksum. I am still testing this and comparing the original file with the rejoined file. I will post back tomorrow with the results, but so far I am very impressed with this application. A big thank you goes to HÃ¥kan Gustavsson for writing this very slick, useful program.

Joanna Newsom's latest album - YS

I don't like Joanna's new album very much. Maybe if I listened to it a few hundred times I would appreciate it for the artistic masterpiece that it might be. Or maybe I would just tie a guitar string around my neck. To be fair, I'm only on the second track. Something about a monkey. Her lyrics are... hard to describe. The music is orchestral and beautiful. I wish I could hear it without her voice. Ouch. But her voice can cause pain. This song is REALLY LONG!
...OK, a few songs have past while I looked for pics of Miss Newsom, and now a song called "Sawdust and Diamonds" is playing. I think its just her playing her harp and singing. This is reminiscent of her previous album, Milk Eyed Mender. I like this one better.
My first experience listening to her music was when I was cleaning the floor of the cancer treatment room at the hospital where her father works. The collage artwork on the CD case caught my eye and the music I heard caught my ears. I remember thinking, this girl has a lot of confidence singing with a voice like that. But I truly enjoyed it. My wife HATES it. If you have not heard her music yet, I highly recommend M.E.M.
YS has interesting lyrics. (What the heck is she singing about?) It's poetry whatever it is.
